The day when stuff didn't work...

I have one of these. Mostly I love it, although moving from the soft water of Wales to the hard chalky stuff of Wiltshire has been challenging. It will only deliver sparkling dishes with the most expensive dishwasher tablets, and salt and rinse aid (I haven't used the last two in years).

Yesterday it threw out all out the electrics, including the heating boiler - although it took an electrician to discover the source of the problem - which meant little work was done. (I really must rediscover how to write the old-fashioned way - with a pen and paper!)

Today, I have to find the guarantee (it's in one of those piles over there) and call someone to fix it.

Come on, people. It's six month's old!

Good luck with that, Liz!

I've never lived anywhere without hard water. Always surprises me when away how little shampoo makes a great frothing mass...

It's a bit of a shock to the system. Had to change my soap, too.

I feel your pain. In the last year my washing machine and fridge have both died. When I called out the fabulous local washing machine man he informed me that they 'don't make them like they used to', and if I want it to last more than four or five years I should buy a Bosch. Sigh.

Hope all is back on track soon.

Well, the engineer is booked and all I have to do is pop around to Currys and ask them to print out a copy of the missing receipt. With photo ID of course. The lovely lady made it sound simple; we will see!

Hugs, our water is really hard so we get used to this kind of thing.

I went the other way, leaving the hard water of Hampshire and now enjoying the softer water of Derbyshire. I think I've only had to use my trusty old Viakal twice since o_O

I hope you get your dishwasher without hassle, and that your human version isn't complaining too much ;-)

I'm having a week of things going wrong in the house. So far we've seen the washing machine engineer and the boiler man. I empathise! Mx

I'd forgotten what it was like to have hard water, Nell. Seem to spend my entire life cleaning sinks!

I didn't know what viakal was until I moved, Aurelia, but the advantages of new home outweigh the water problems - and how lucky we are to be able to simply turn on the tap and have clean water whenever we want it.

Tough week, Morton. Hope it all gets fixed very quickly. You do not want to be without a boiler in this weather. Gorgeous morning but freeeezing!

They say hard water is better for us when it comes to drinking, Liz. Gosh, I'd forgotten about all those furred up kettles!
