I'm having an odd day. Fabulous roses arrived by messenger, a card made by the dh's very own hands was waiting for me when I staggered downstairs at some unearthly hour this morning for tea and the US cover of my May book, which is blissfully pretty, arrived in this morning's post. All wonderful. The strange thing is having nothing that I have to do except put my feet up and be fussed over and I'm not terribly good at that, to be honest.

The yawning gap has appeared because I finally I finished the book I've been working on since -- well it feels like forever -- last night. THE VALENTINE BRIDE has been a bit of a marathon, but I finally hit warp speed last week and despatched the finished book just before collapsing in front of the telly with a large glass of chianti yesterday evening. (Is anyone else addicted to Life On Mars?)

So today I'm wandering around, tidying up the office, catching up with the accounts, making an appointment to have my hair cut but not quite able to settle to anything.

I think you should take some you time after your marathon! We all need time to unwind....

The card and flowers sound lovely! And the cover is gorgeous!!!

And I'm with ya on the sitting still....

Happy Valentines!

Oh Liz - I know the feeling. Post book reaction. But congratulations on getting The Valentine Bride out of the door. How appropriate for Feb 14th!

Rest, relax - enjoy it. Sid says find a cat and stroke it - very good for the blood pressure.

And I hope that a small parcel arrived so that you have something you might want to read?

love

Kate

Small parcel sitting on my desk as I write, Kate. The Italian's Forced Bride is exactly what I need to distract me! Thank you so much.

Congrats on finishing!

You will have another parcel next week to distract you when I get to the post office (except I have to finish this one first and I've hidden your new book so I don't get tempted!!).

As for Life on Mars - isn't it GOOD? (The other one I loved that's just finished is Sea of Souls - DH bought me series 2 so I can catch up, vbg)

Haven't seen Sea of Souls, but I love that whole cut off from life, out of time stuff of Mars. It's taken Goodnight Sweetheart to much less comfortable place. And for those of old enough to remember programmes such as The Sweeney, it's a real jolt to see how much things have changed. For the better!

Congrats on finishing your latest, Liz. What a fantastic list of nominees - I've only read two so far (one yours) and BOTH were so moving. As for Life on Mars - one of our friends was an extra on it and had a fantastic time.
