A GARDEN THIEF...
We put out half a coconut the other day for the bluetits to peck at the nut but it was spotted by another garden visitor who didn't just nibble and run. He took the whole darned thing...
Ran off along the fence with it...
And then sat back and enjoyed his spoils.

What lovely pictures. :)
Thanks, Kate. The little blighter was so relaxed, taking his time chewing through the string, that the dh had time to go and fetch his camera. He came back for the second half the next day!
I'm very impressed you managed to capture him...and that he managed to carry that whole thing.
Fabulous pics! They're amazingly agile creatures, aren't they? I'm fascinated by the way they can leap from tree to tree (well, one overhanging branch to the next). And to do that with half a coconut in tow... Wow!
Dad calls them rats with tails he has divised a collor made of aluminum that goes round their bird table pole, (There is a picture here of his design http://img437.imageshack.us/my.php?image=snowsquirel22ee.jpg ) makes one heck of a racket when they jump on it but it has so far foxed them, they have tried every which way to jump on but not one has managed it even from the fence.
Personally I love wathching their cheaky antics they are so funny, we used to have a fantastic view from the windows at work they are upgrading the unit at the mo so the builders are out there I think it might have got rid of the birds and squirels for at least this year
Thanks for the picture, Kaz! We don't get too much squirrel trouble. They normally stick to the woods. This one had so much cheek, and worked pretty hard for his treat, so we didn't begrudge it. The tits have plenty of nuts much closer to the house and so far the squirrels haven't ventured that near, although we do have a pheasant who wanders in to take advantage of any dropped nuts.
What I want to know is did he accomplish his mission to the theme of Mission Impossible?
Oh, right, Michelle. Perfect!
What wonderful pics! Who would guess squirrels liked coconut?
Totally off topic, but I had to stop by and say congratulations and well done on your RITA nomination, Liz! Brilliant news! Way to go!
