BRAVA!

I now have a title for the Italian book. This took longer than usual. Editorial didn’t think my suggestion, Italian for Beginners was romantic enough. I didn’t care very much for their alternative. Time was running out. The lack of a title was holding up production. A list of suggestions was produced and then, out of the blue, I took a bit of mine, a bit of theirs and, fingers crossed, breath held, I made my suggestion.

Readers, I have a title. FLIRTING WITH ITALIAN will be published in December.

Meanwhile, TEMPTED BY TROUBLE is now available in paper or to download online at eHarlequin and Mills and Boon. Kindle users – and those of you in the southern hemisphere - will have to wait until June. But you can read the first chapter by clicking on the link at the top of the sidebar.

Since a book launch wouldn’t be complete without a treat, I have a lovely shiny RIVA edition to give away. For a chance to win this, tell me about your best (or worst) ice cream moments. What was the most luscious ice cream you ever ate? The most memorable? The one that cheered you up on a bad day, or the huge one that made you sick.

Here's a quote to concentrate your mind -

‘All you have to do is press this button and the machine dispenses exactly the right amount of ice cream.’

Sean was standing behind her, one hand over hers as she held a cone poised beneath the nozzle. With his other hand he pressed the button and moved the cone beneath it as the ice cream descended.

It was hard enough to concentrate with his arms around her but then, as he leaned over her shoulder and took a mouthful of the result, his chin grazed her temple and she turned to look at him.

‘Your turn,’ he said.

‘My turn?’

A smear of ice cream decorated his top lip. Without thinking her reflex was to lick her own lip as she imagined how it would feel to lick it off. How it would taste. How he would taste…

I’ll pick a winner next Monday morning (UK time).

Alternatively you can put in a bid for a signed copy of this (and Becoming the Tycoon’s Bride) at Brenda Novak’s Auction and have the added joy of knowing your money will be going to a good cause.

My all time favorite ice cream is Moosetracks Ice cream. I first had when I was visiting friends in Montana and was SO happy when I found it in New Jersey too. LOL

Leanne - could you get any more ingredients in that ice? :) It sounds wonderful!

Liz Fielding said...

Nas, I love vanilla best, too. With strawberries. And maybe a blob of clotted cream. (Actually vanilla clotted cream ice cream is terrific!)

have no idea if this is open to Canadians BUT I have to tell you of this icecream we had in Esterhazy sk called Mexican icecream that is deep fried with this crunchy layer over the icecream and then caramel topping on it OMG I loved going there, but we moved away many years ago (Thanks for the memory !!)

When I was young I couldn't eat icecream as it made me sick. My Mum used to buy me a dry cornet from the icecream man as I loved cornets. Thankfully I can eat icecream now - Magnums are my favourites.

Liz Fielding said...

Absolutely, ebay, the more the merrier. How else would I ever know about deep fried ice cream!

Liz Fielding said...

Oh, Nell. Poor little baby! But Magnums - oh, yes. Have you tried the limoncello ones? I keep trying to find them but they never have them in my local supermarkets.

Bravissima!

I like “Flirting With Italian” the best. Just compare the mental images that “Flirting With Italian” creates as opposed to “Italian for Beginners”. One is fun, two is drudgery.

I’m going to have to wait until June 7th to get “Tempted by Trouble” for my Kindle.

I like the tempo of your new titles:

Tempted by Trouble
Flirting with Italian

Perhaps, in the future, we’ll see:

Seduced By Design
(the heroie designs wedding dresses).

Rescuing the Runaway Bride
(the bride gets lost in the wilderness.)

Courting the Matchmaker
(hero and heroine run competing dating services)

I like the best, Vince, but I always appreciate your input and I'm glad you like it too. One of those sudden flashes of brilliance... :)

And I'm determined on a run a three word titles - I was told the shorter the better when I first started writing for Mills and Boon. These days some of them are novels in themselves. You just have to get enough into the title for the reader to know what she's buying. Tricky! Will make a note of your brilliant suggestions.

Heavens, it's been a long day and I keep missing out words.

Meant to say that I've already written His Runaway Bride, so probably won't be doing that one. But keep them coming. :)

Hi Liz:

I just got “His Runaway Bride” for my Kindle at Amazon. One minute from hearing about it and I have it! The book has to be at least 10 years old with the cover design.

Isn’t the backlist ebook option great! I pretty much buy every ‘Runaway Bride” theme that HR and Love Inspired publish so I may have read it years ago but I don’t remember the cover. Also, I don’t ever remember seeing “His” runaway bride. That’s a neat twist.

Flirting with Italian is a gorgeous title, Liz. Don't you wish you could just think of these things first go? But it never works that way. I finally tried Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia at RT conference in La a couple of weeks back. Wow, I wish we had that in Australia. My local favorite is Ginger Ice Cream at the Ginger Factory on Queensland's Gold Coast. I tried every whichway to duplicate the intense ginger flavor but never got it right. Have to go back for more, such a sacrifice!

Liz Fielding said...

Valerie, I just love ginger. Have a new recipe for ginger pana cotta which I'm going to try at the weekend.

Liz Fielding said...

Vince, I was going to say "Ten years? No way..." But you're spot on. I checked at Amazon and it was pub'd in 2001, part of my backlist that has been digitised. It was part of an HR mini series called "Nearly Weds", which focused on runaway brides. I wrote a spin off featuring two of the minor characters called The Bachelor's Baby.

I had quite a few "His" titles back then, but it seems to have been dropped by marketing as "unpopular".

I hope it's not one you've already read.

My ice cream moment ... I was staying overnight with my grandparents, getting spoiled rotten and my grandpa found out I'd never had a banana split. Next morning, before he takes me home, we go to the local ice cream parlor to get one. I'm in heaven. My favorite fruit+ice cream. What more could I ask? Alas, I ate so much I promptly got sick. I can't stand the taste of bananas splits to this day. But every time my husband eats one, I think of my beloved grandpa.

Talk about boring.

I have a thing about chocolate so I even prefer my ice cream to be chocolate.

Thanks for the giveaway.

Gayle, a banana split was my mother's absolutely favourite treat! She made them at home, too. A real nostalgia moment.

Buddyt, there is absolutely nothing boring about chocolate!

We have an Adirondack Bear claw ice cream made by a local company that has cashews carmel and chocolate swirl in vanilla ice cream that is yummy and I've always loved pistachio. Then there is Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia--it is too die for ice cream, but my favorite ice cream was a homemade ice cream I could get when I lived in Charleston, SC--chocolate orange chip. That was divine.

My worst moment was Cookie Dough, after a really bad breakup I ate nothing but. I swear I gained 10 pounds in 1 week from that alone. I also cried the whole time while eating it so... Not good.

The best, I imagine, is when I was about 5 years old. Daddy bought me a chocolate cone. Too big to handle for me I smeared it all over my face and shirt. Got a cute picture of it.
Still I ate most of the ice. It was absolutely delicious, today chocolate is still my fav flavor. But now I like to have a cone of 2 one being chocolate and one being mint.
