This year it totally revolved around Miss Cora Rose, nearly eleven months old and diving into Christmas as if it were created just for her.
It was a really special holiday for us and I hope you all had a wonderful holiday with your family and friends around you.

What a beautiful girl and what a wonderful picture. I love the music in the name: Cora Rose. Have you used this name in a novel? I think it’s time for a heroine to have a double first name again.

I've never used Cora in a novel, although I seem to keep hearing it everywhere now. From the heroine of The Last of the Mohicans (which I'd forgotten) to the Countess in Downton Abbey.
I'm not sure about a double name for a heroine in these days of fast everything. Do you think it would fly with readers?

Hi Nas, Hi Lacey - Cora's little Santa outfit was so gorgeous. She also had a green Santa's Elf suit for Christmas Eve. Such a peach.

I think most double names would not work today because they have a poor reputation in the USA. (Brainless southerner belles and slow talking good old boys who will steal you blind.)
So I don’t think Peggy Sue, Betty Anne, or Barbara Anne, would work. I don’t think it is a matter of speed. I bet in a texting world Cora Rose will be C.R. to her friends! In fact, to a sight reader, Cora Rose might be even faster to read, (spot by sight and pass over quickly) than a name like Katherine.
However, a name that is unusual with a perceived sense of class might work in that it would be non-stereotyped and, more importantly, it would be more memorable.
It would also be useful to have a very memorable heroine to give the double name to. It was the freshness of ‘Cora Rose’ that made me think of this in the first place. The double name might also play into the storyline. ‘Cora Rose’ might be a florist and that could be why she likes using both names.
I think first names are very important in a novel.
