MEETING LILIAN DARCY

After my last post, Lilian emailed me to remind me that we first met at Jane Porter's tea party at Brown's Hotel in Denver and I knew I had a photograph of that brilliant afternoon, so I looked it out. So here we have Jane Porter, C J Carmichael, me and Barbara Dunlop. Guess who's holding the camera!

But when I was looking for the first photograph, I found this. A year later, here we are all having tea with Jane at the Plaza in New York where, cleverly, Jane had the waiter take photographs. So here you have Jane, me, CJ, Barbara, Lilian and Susan Stephens.

Champagne, really good tea, food to die for and good friends. Absolutely perfect.

So, now we've got that sorted, carry on down and read all about CAFE DU JOUR, Lilian's fabulous new MIRA single title -- mine is in the post and I can't wait! -- and maybe win yourself a signed copy and Cafe du Jour t-shirt.

I had lunch with CJ and Barb a few months ago and it was so much fun!

Oooh, Liz, your tea party looks beautiful. I had a lovely 'High Tea' at the Sheraton with fellow writer, Bronwyn Clarke (a Golden Heart winner this year with her story Falling Into Darkness) during our conference this year. I'm wishing I'd taken a photo of the three tiered platter of goodies we got.

Mega congrats to Lilian on her Mira release. I can't wait to read it, and if I can reminisce a little, too, the first tutorial I can remember attending at a RWAus conference was the one where Lilian talked about going out to sea on a fishing boat at night for research purposes, and Marion Lennox handed out samples of goat cheese!

Jennie, that was the RWA conference where I had my 4 month old baby permanently stuck to my front in a baby sling - except for at the tutorial, when a friend minded him. Nobody remembers my face from that conference because he was so cute and smily everyone only looked at him. He's 8 now!

Mm, and the goat cheese...!

Eight years ago? How can that much time have passed so quickly! I guess that means if we blink again, he'll be sixteen ;-)

I just remember how wonderful it was to spend time with other romance writers even if it was all a bit overwhelming at first. I still look forward to each year's conference.

I have your lovely book sitting upstairs on my TBR pile. Can't wait to get into it.
