Being British I was unfamiliar with the term Black Friday, but this year it's been everywhere and suddenly the meaning clicked.

The key was warm from his body, but his hands were cool. Long, slender fingers wrapped around her warm hand and the warmer key. Hidden layers of heat, like the hidden layers of meaning she sensed behind everything he said.

I've been confused by the term Black Friday, too, so looked it up. In Australia it's a day to commemorate a particularly terrible bushfire where many died, so it's kind of weird to think of it as a jolly shopping spree.
No sales here, I'm doing a bit of Christmas baking. And in between rereading some of my old Anne McCaffrey books.

Anne, I understand the term comes from when traders hope to get "into the black", but the term "black" in front of a day does have some very bad connotations here in the UK too.
I loved Anne McCaffrey's book when I was young. So sorry to hear of her death.
